2008 TOP STREET MOTORCYCLE ENTRY FEE - $30. From the Desk of Eddie Krawiec Wow!!! What an exciting 2007 season! I have to start of by saying thank you to Skip, Jen, Joe and the entire staff at Orient Express for supporting our Top Street Bike program. I also can't forget Ken and Donnie at Maximum Motorsports, Dave and Ryan from World Wide Bearings, Del from Del's Performance Cycles, the whole crew at Xtreme Machines, Wayne from Narrden/Speenlinks, Matt Polito from Dragbike.com and dragbikephotos.com, Rickey from Rickey Gadson's Sportbike Zone, Mike Slowe of Mike Slowe Racing, the crew from Monmouth Cycles and one of the most important people Rick Mazzola for always keeping everyone up to date with all the great articles. The class we all know as Orient Express Top Street Bike crowned Nate Castro as its first back to back champion. Nate had a great season and went enough rounds every race to keep all 35 points racers behind him for the championship. He may have not thought that he was going to get the Championship because his brother Abner came out swinging and had a huge points lead by the 3rd race. By mid season Andre Shearn was leading with one point over Tony Pasquale and Ashon Dickerson while Nate was tied for fourth with Frank Barbuto. When the final points day of the season ended the final top five in points were Nate Castro, Andre Shearn, Tony Pasquale, Frank Barbuto and Ashon Dickerson. It goes to show you winning is great but being consistent pays off at the end. We saw fields with 50+ motorcycles and 30 or more racers at every event and also got to give away 2 more jackets for the Del's Performance Cycles 7 Second Club. The two recipients were Sean Walsh and Anthony Steward, Sr. With a total of 5 spots gone there are only 2 more jackets up for grabs. At the rate people are building fast motorcycles I don't think it will be hard to give out the last two. For 2008 everything will stay the same. I feel if it is not broke don't try to fix it. The class has been growing every year since it started and is looking strong for 08 with a total of 13 points days. The season kicks off Saturday March 29 with a Top Street Bike non points Warm up race. The points for Orient Express Top Street Bike starts April 5th and are as follows April 12th, 26th May 10th, 31st June 14th, 28th July 8th August 2nd, 9th September 20th October 18th and ending on October 25th. Our Top Dog Bounty days will be July 12th and October 18th. Orient Express will be returning as the title sponsor for 2008. Skip, Joe and everyone at Orient Express are really excited about 2008. They just got things going at their new building and have a new 88ft racer support trailer. Skip will even be doing a little extra for the racers this season so keep your eyes out for an announcement in following issues. At this time it appears that everyone else will be returning also. I have to thank all the companies for their support and hope all our racers support them. With all that said, let's get down to the details. The payout is $250 to win, $125 Runner-up, $60 for a semi-final finish and the number one qualifier will receive $50. Start planning now. Before you know it April will be here. And just a reminder to the racers wanting to compete in the Orient Express Top Street Bike points series, you must sign up for points in order to earn any championship points and by signing up before the first points day will earn you one bonus point. If there are any questions, please e-mail me at eddiek@etownraceway.com. Good Luck to all racers and have a safe enjoyable 2008 season.
